SUPERB VIKING COIL RING, 10TH-11TH CENTURY AD, SIZE 9 - 9 1/4 08/06/2024 thus probably dating this exampleGilt bronze, size, 9 9 1 4, of intricate construction. Made from a single piece by the lost wax process with a broad flat lenticular central panel hand engraved with double stipple borders enclosing a quartered motif of double stipple lines matching. The sides with two segments of its coiled terminal, all in one piece. Iconic form rarely found undamaged as here. The surface restored with 24karat gold.
